Our episodes
Our first podcast episode ever in which we discuss how we met on X (formerly known as Twitter), a romcom about Zac Efron, our shared love of Mary Kate & Ashley, and realize we may actually be screenwriting twins?!
Our second podcast episode ever, in which we discuss some exciting new developments in our screenwriting careers, reality shows we pitched in our early 20s, our screenwriting dreams, an infuriating romcom Buzzfeed article (#romcomrage), and the future of the pod! It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Ep.3: You’ve Got Smale
This episode has us merry and bright because it kicks off the holiday season with our special first guest, Carly Smale, the Christmas Wizard! Carly joins Isabel and Aviva to discuss her upcoming movie, Christmas By Design, which premieres on Friday, Oct.27th at 8 p.m. on The Hallmark Channel. Carley walks us through how Hallmark movies are made, why she writes so many, and we all agree that movies don't know how people sleep.
About Carley: Carley Smale is a screenwriter and rom-com connoisseur who spends most of her time re-watching episodes of The Comeback and picking the raisins out of her trail mix. She received her first writing credit when she was twenty-four years old for the Lifetime made-for-tv movie entitled The Christmas Parade (2014). She has since earned several more writing credits in the MOW space with titles such as, Snowed Inn Christmas, Christmas Pen Pals and Netflix's Midnight at the Magnolia. In February 2022, Midnight at the Magnolia was nominated for best made-for-tv movie at the Canadian Screen Awards. It spent over a month trending worldwide on the Netflix top 10 list. In 2014, Carley wrote and directed an indie feature entitled, “Cold Season” with the help of her friends from film school. It was the winner of the Jury Award at the Toronto Independent Film Festival.
