We also discuss our controversial opinions surrounding the Barbie movie and its nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for the Oscars this year.

Season 2, Episode 1
New year, new season! We're SO excited to start season 2 of the pod with an incredible first guest, the writer of the box office hit, ANYONE BUT YOU, Ilana Wolpert! We chat with Ilana to learn how she broke into the industry, what sparked the idea for ANYONE BUT YOU, how it got made, and what it was like to have a 25-million budget for a romcom! Ilana kind of accidentally became a screenwriter and she's like, really, really good at it.

We discuss how Cher’s yellow plaid outfit came to be (you know the one), Mona’s truly iconic romcom filmography, what happens to clothing after a film, and how screenwriters can think about clothing in regard to character development.

Our seventh episode ever features Adi Blotman, the screenwriter of the Jewish romcom, MADE FOR EACH OTHER, which premiered on Hallmark at the beginning of the year. In this chat, we discuss how Adi’s R-rated romcom script got in the hands of a Hallmark producer, her writing rituals and future plans, and how LinkedIn might be the screenwriting hack you need to leverage your writing career.

Our sixth episode ever features Aviva’s amazing producer, Karen Glass! It all begins with an idea. This episode has us merry and bright because it kicks off the holiday season with our special first guest, Carly Smale, the Christmas Wizard! Carly joins Isabel and Aviva to discuss her upcoming movie, Christmas By Design, which premieres on Friday, Oct.27th at 8 p.m. on The Hallmark Channel. Carley walks us through how Hallmark movies are made, why she writes so many, and we all agree that movies don't know how people sleep.
